What is the Rock & Run?
The Rock & Run is a school-wide event in which all students participate to raise money to benefit their classrooms and school. Students will walk/run laps in celebration of their fundraising efforts. The Rock & Run provides students the opportunity to play a role in raising money for their classrooms while promoting physical fitness goals.
The Rock & Run event is completely organized and run by PTO and parent volunteers. The proceeds from this event allow us to procure essential items including: technology, field trips, library equipment, math and science materials, playground needs and classroom supplies.
How Can I get involved?
The success of this event relies on help from our local neighborhood businesses. We hope you will show your support and become a sponsor of this worthwhile event. We offer a variety of sponsorship levels with multiple promotional opportunities.
Why is this a unique fundraiser?
Most school fundraisers are run by companies that take 50% or more of the profit. Our Rock & Run is 100% organized and run by our PTO and parent volunteers, so Whiting Lane will keep all of the proceeds. Your donation will impact your child’s class directly! Note that Konstella/Stripe charges a transaction fee of 2.9% + 30¢ per online donation, which will reduce those donations accordingly.
Most other fun runs provide junky prizes to motivate kids. The Rock & Run offers class and school-wide prizes so no one is left out—extra recess, PJ day, no homework day, a "Forts and Flashlights" event, a delivery from a local ice cream shop, and more!

What are the goals of the Rock & Run?
We make the Rock & Run our major fundraiser of the year, so that other fundraising efforts can be limited. The more success we have with this event, the more we can limit the number of fundraisers the rest of the school year and offer more community-building events. We aim to make fundraising a secondary emphasis of the PTO so that we can concentrate our efforts on the needs of our school community.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! Contributions made to Whiting Lane School are tax-deductible. Our tax ID number is 06-1614600
Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes! the Rock & Run is run by the Whiting Lane PTO, however, we rely on family volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Email us at president@wlpto.org and we’ll find the best way to help.
Is the Rock ‘n Run pet friendly?
No. We love our furry four-legged friends, but unfortunately we do not recommend bringing pets because it can be quite overwhelming with loud music, kids running, and generally playful excitement.

Support Rock & Run Through Corporate Matching
Rock & Run is Whiting Lane Elementary School PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This schoolwide event encourages active movement, school spirit, and community-building as students run, walk, or cheer around the school’s track.
All proceeds raised through Rock & Run go directly to the Whiting Lane PTO. These funds help support our school food pantry, purchase schoolwide resources such as library books and recess equipment, reimburse teachers for classroom supplies, and make community-wide events possible for all Whiting Lane families.
One easy way to make your donation go even further is through corporate matching.
Many employers offer matching gift programs, which means they may match charitable donations made by their employees. In some cases, your donation to the Whiting Lane PTO could be doubled at no extra cost to you.

After making a donation to Rock & Run, check with your employer to see if they offer a matching gift program. Many companies have a simple online form where you can submit your donation information and request a match.
