Rock & Run

Rock & Run is a school-wide event in which all students participate to raise money to benefit their classrooms and school. Students will walk/run laps in celebration of their fundraising efforts. Rock & Run provides students with the opportunity to play a role in raising money for their classrooms while promoting physical fitness goals.
Rock & Run is organized by the PTO and parent volunteers. The proceeds from this event allow us to provide essential items and services including technology, the school food pantry, field trips, library equipment, math and science materials, playground needs and classroom supplies.
How can I get involved?
Families: Parents and caregivers can get involved by helping the PTO identify local corporate sponsors. This helps cover the cost of the event so that more dollars go directly to the school. If you own a business or are aware of any businesses that would be interested in sponsoring this event, please email president@wlpto.org.
Greater community: The success of this event relies on help from our local neighborhood businesses. We hope the local business community will show support by becoming a sponsor of this worthwhile event. We offer a variety of sponsorship levels with multiple promotional opportunities.
Why is this a unique fundraiser?
Most school fundraisers are run by companies that take 50% or more of the profit. Rock & Run is 100% organized by our PTO and parent volunteers, so Whiting Lane will keep all of the proceeds. Your donation will impact your child’s class directly!
Rock & Run offers school-wide prizes so no one is left out. Stay tuned for prizes to be announced later this fall!

What are the goals of the Rock & Run?
Rock & Run is our major fundraiser of the year so that other fundraising efforts can be limited. The more success we have with this event, the more we can limit the number of fundraisers the rest of the school year and offer more community-building events. We aim to make fundraising a secondary emphasis of the PTO so that we can concentrate our efforts on the needs of our school community.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! Contributions made to Whiting Lane School PTO are tax-deductible. Our tax ID number is 06-1614600.
Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes! Rock & Run is run by the Whiting Lane PTO; however, we rely on family volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Email us at president@wlpto.org and together we’ll find the best way for you to get involved.
Is Rock & Run pet friendly?
No. We love our furry four-legged friends, but unfortunately we do not allow pets because it can be quite overwhelming with loud music, kids running, and generally playful excitement.
Can I donate outside of the event?
Yes! You can set up a one-time donation or a recurring one. Simply contact the PTO at president@wlpto.org and we will provide instructions for donating.
Support Rock & Run Through Corporate Matching
All proceeds raised through Rock & Run go directly to the Whiting Lane PTO. These funds help support our school food pantry, purchase schoolwide resources such as library books and recess equipment, reimburse teachers for classroom supplies, and make community-wide events possible for all Whiting Lane families.
One easy way to make your donation go even further is through corporate matching.
Many employers offer matching gift programs, which means they may match charitable donations made by their employees. In some cases, your donation to the Whiting Lane PTO could be doubled at no extra cost to you. Please contact our PTO Treasurer at treasurer@wlpto.org for help in setting this up.
How Corporate Matching Works
After making a donation to Rock & Run, check with your employer to see if they offer a matching gift program. Many companies have a simple online form where you can submit your donation information and request a match.
